Design Goal
How to help people selling, renting and buying bikes in a local environment by creating a new app
My Goals
- To understand users better and how they trade with bikes in a local environment
- To improve my abilities to go deeper into my thought process
My approach
1Empathising with users
|
2Defining the problem
|
3Ideating the solutions

4Testing prototypes
& Iteration |
1. Empathising with users
While living in Bamberg, which is a University city, I observed a lot of people using bikes to commute.
Bamberg is a city where you move mostly by bike and there is a lot of people wanting to sell and wanting to buy bikes, but sometimes it is difficult to find the perfect match.
With this project, I wanted to make it easier to trade with bikes in a local environment.

How did I do it?
I created a Survey that I shared on social media (Facebook groups in Bamberg and Instagram)
22 people answered. Some important findings that corroborated my assumptions were:

2. Defining the problem
After gathering all the information necessary, I created a user persona based on the information obtained in the survey.
Once I finished creating the persona ( Carlos), I moved onto building a user journey map that shows potential problems of users while trying to buy a bike.
3. Ideating the solutions
I started creating sitemap that would show the whole structure of the app for local trade. It adds the possibility for small business to sell as well
Then, I started sketching the app that would allow buying, renting and selling bikes in a local environment. This could be the solution for bike users.
4. Testing prototypes & Iteration
After sketching the app, I decided to go straight into testing it with users. I arranged some interviews with people who use bikes to commute (living in Bamberg) and presented them with this prototype.
With the information gathered, I started with the high-fidelity prototype. I decided to call the app Achilles' Wheel (There hasn't been a market research for the name).
Conclusion
This App project would improve the life of people who want to:
Rent, buy and sell bikes
What I learned:
Disclaimer: Since this is a portfolio and personal project, this projects ends here. However, if this project would have
been financed, it would have bene possible to keep with the iteration process. Thus, the following step would be
testing the prototype with users, then release it and going back to the first step which is emphasizing.

What I learned:
- How to improve my research and UI Skills
- How to empathise better with users
- How important are business goals in order for a project to work and be successful
